Earlier this  year I went to a special education conference in Anchorage where I met Casey Wade Bitz. Casey, along with his family, collects beach glass in southeast Alaska. I love beach glass and immediately had to buy a small bag of it. Here is a pendant that I made from one of the pieces.

Mookite Pendant

Mookite is a type of jasper, a very colorful stone with cream, yellow, butterscotch, pink, red, burgundy and chocolate. It comes from Western Australia and is also found in China. Indigenous Australians have used Mookite as a stone for regeneration and healing the everyday wounds. This pendant has a large Mookite bead (about 1.25" in diameter) that is highly polished. It is wrapped with non-tarnish silver wire, Swarovski crystals, and goldstone beads.

Heart Shaped World

Crinoids (a type of marine animal) were most abundant during the Missisipian Period, which ranged from 360 to 320 million years ago. This stone is made up of fossil crinoid stems and other marine life that got compacted at the bottom of ancient sea beds and turned to stone. The colors are muted pinks and grays, and the piece is highly polished. It is about 1.25" long and is wrapped with non-tarnish silver wire.
